HOPE ORPHANAGE
Heaven for the Orphan People on Earth
As we have mentioned, one of the main focuses of Right Hand Ministries is to care for the needy and orphaned children in poor nations. This vision began being fulfilled with the HOPE Orphanage, located in the southern India state of Andhra Pradesh, not far from the Bay of Bengal.
RHM became acquainted with the "Mommy" of HOPE, Sister Buelah, in 1994. Buelah had worked at a leper colony for 6 yrs and children's homes for 12 yrs before HOPE began in 1998 with the coming of a 2 yr old named Sravanthi, a little girl who's father had died of TB (the mother later died of AIDS). Since that time the Lord has added many more children (now 35 as of August 2011) and He has used HOPE to touch many lives besides the children.
After 8 years of caring for needy children, the Lord led us to start feeding and caring for Christian widows in the HOPE vicinity. Now there are more than 30 widows/widowers being fed twice a day and having other needs met through the Manna Program. Not wanting to merely be a social organization meeting physical needs, the widows who are able to make it to the lunch meal also participate in devotions.
Many of the children and widows of HOPE truly come from sorrowful backgrounds. Of the HOPE children, about 15 of them had one or both parents die, about 15 had one or both parents abandon them, and nearly 10 come from abusive backgrounds. Only one has come into the home strictly due to poverty. See their profiles on the HOPE website (in the photos page). The widows stories are just as pitiful. As you stay connected with us thru the newsletters, e-mail updates or Facebook you'll learn more about our widows and their plight. You can also click onto the above Manna Program link for more info.
One of the most challenging tasks of HOPE is concerning the children's future. Not desiring to simply help them get a job when 16-18 and send them away (as many children's homes do), we believe the Lord has called us to have a family type commitment for each child He brings our way. That means staying committed to each one until he or she gets settled in life, whether that be through a job, marriage, ministry or whatever. Pray with us for these children, and help us if you are able or feel led to do so. Monthly support is greatly appreciated.
