Did you know that about $350 provides medication to treat or prevent malaria for countless villagers during the rainy season? Consider sharing the cost for $35!
In 2008 there was severe persecution of Christians in the Indian state of Odisha (formerly known as Orissa). It is estimated that 50,000 people fled their villages as loved ones were murdered and their homes, churches, and schools were destroyed.
During that same persecution a Hindu leader was killed and seven Christian men were falsely charged and have since been sentenced to life in prison for his murder. We currently channel funds from a ministry source designated for persecuted Christians to support the wives and children of these men.
We partner with a Christian brother who, along with his three sons, works to evangelize many villages in this very poor forest area.
In 2010 one way RHM began assisting them was by providing annual funds for malaria prevention and treatment during the rainy season.
In 2012 RHM helped start Morning Star Girls' Home. Working with this same Christian brother and teaming up with the ministry mentioned above we have been able to bring about 25 girls into the home. These girls would otherwise have no opportunity to receive an education due to the situations of poverty that they come from and the persecution their families have experienced.
Other ways we work with Morning Star include digging wells for Christians who have no access to clean water, assisting with a Manna program for widows and elderly, and providing training for local pastors.
"For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.
He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.
He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight."
